Unfortunately for the general public Brownie’s Adventure one was enjoyed by just enough people to warrant making a sequel. This game turned out to be quite an epic. Three full 1~2 hour long acts, a LOT more detail/animations and some proper playtesting and feedback from some awesome people. Composed (I think) a very stirring and traditional OST with some local legends (Santiago Kings) of Sheffield and some lesser known North East Derbyshire Rappers (Johhny Tater).

I’m really really excited to release this one. I doubled down on animation and music. The game is a little bigger than BA1 (It’s actually TWICE the size in data). Much more time in Sheffield. I’ve even managed to knock out a 20 minute fully voice acted fake radio show. It presents in the form of a random item you can pick up and interact with. I even voice recorded a seperate radio show (In full elvish audio only) for Act 3. At this point I had to explain to my wife that “I’m just translating english into phonetic elvish on chatgtp to make a radio show” (see Cones of Dunshire image above). If it wasn’t so much fun and genuinely positive for my mental health to be creating this stuff, I’d have been sectioned months ago.

The game also features a rudimentary simple combat system powered by solving puzzles and unlocking better magical skill. It’s not a huge part of the game but I feel like it gives Act 2 a really unique twist. I’ve given this multiple ways to overcome. Level up a little and fight or find powerful magical items that can defeat your enemies instantly. I felt that this would be a nice way to:

a) Have fun drawing some REALLY over the top and quite frankly gratuitis death scenes
b) Give the player some agency in how they overcome that section
c) Give people a tap out from my rudimentary RNG based fighting-round system based on quests completed

Interestingly I taught myself how to make a rudimentary RNG based fight system by experimenting between BA1 and BA2 on this project that I may never finish.

Anyway yes. It’s finished, I’m proud of it and it may not be the prettiest but by golly oh gee you’ll laugh and have a lot of fun. And that’s sort of the point.
